¡Hola! Hoy finalmente estoy reseñando el segundo libro de la trilogía La Materia Oscura, La Daga.

Empecé este libro con el libro físico, pero lo terminé como un audiolibro, un gran audiolibro,

debo decir, tiene un reparto completo, lo cual logro que me metiera por completo en la historia. Normalmente no me gustan los audiolibros porque una persona haciendo diferentes voces para cada personajes me hace sentir incómoda, pero como este tenía un actor diferente para cada personaje, me fascinó ¿Les gustan los audiolibros?

En esta segunda entrega, Lyra se pierde en un mundo nuevo, donde encuentra a Will, un niño prófugo, un asesino, un valioso y bienvenido aliado. Porque este es un mundo en el que los Espectros devoradores de almas acechan en las calles y las brujas comparten los cielos con tropas de ángeles.

Cada uno está buscando algo. Lyra busca el significado de la materia oscura. Will busca a su padre desaparecido. Pero lo que encuentran en su lugar es un secreto mortal, un cuchillo de poder incalculable. Y ni Lyra ni Will sospechan cuán estrechamente unidos están sus vidas, sus amores y sus destinos. . . hasta que se separen.

Este segundo libro tiene una vibra muy diferente al primero. Para empezar, sigue a diferentes personajes y no sólo se enfoca en Lyra como en el primer libro. Para ser sincera, no me importaban mucho las historias de los demás, sólo me interesaba la historia de Lyra y Will, por lo que el resto me resultó un tanto aburrido.

Hello! Today I’m finally reviewing the second book in the His Dark Materials trilogy, The Subtle Knife.

I started this book with the physical book but finished it as an audiobook, great audiobook I must say, full casted and really pulled you into the story. I usually don’t like audiobooks because one person making different voices for all the characters makes me feel awkward. Do you like audiobooks?

In this second installment, Lyra is lost in a new world, where she finds Will--a boy on the run,

a murderer--a worthy and welcome ally. For this is a world where soul-eating Specters stalk the streets and witches share the skies with troops of angels.
Each is searching--Lyra for the meaning of Dark Matter, Will for his missing father--but what they find instead is a deadly secret, a knife of untold power. And neither Lyra nor Will suspects how tightly their lives, their loves, their destinies are bound together . . . until they are split apart.

This second book has a very different vibe from the first one, first of all, it follows different characters and doesn’t focuses only on Lyra like the first book. To be honest I didn’t particularly cared for other’s story, I was only interested in Lyra and Will’s story, so the rest was kinda boring to me.

Hola, hoy estoy reseñando un libro de middle grade (Me encantan los libros de middle grade) que leí recientemente, A Dash of Trouble, el primero de la saga Love, Sugar, Magic.

Este libro gira en torno a la familia de Leonora Logroño, quienes son propietarios de la panadería más querida en Rose Hill, Texas, pasando sus días conjurando deliciosas galletas y pasteles para cualquier ocasión. Y ninguna ocasión es más importante que el festival anual de Dia de Muertos.

Leo espera que este sea el año en que pueda ayudar a preparar la gran celebración, pero, una vez más, le dicen que es muy joven. Al salir furtivamente de la escuela y bajar a la panadería, descubre que su madre, su tía y sus cuatro hermanas mayores han mantenido un gran secreto: son brujasj que derraman un poco de magia dulce en todo lo que hornean

Leo sabe que ella también tiene habilidades mágicas y está más decidida que nunca a unirse al negocio familiar, incluso si no puede dejar que su mamá y hermanas lo sepan todavía.

Gané este libro en un sorteo, tenía tres opciones y elegí este porque el personaje principal es una niña latina. Cuando era pequeña, todos los personajes que leía en los libros eran caucásicos, así que se me metió la extraña idea de que las personas como yo no podían vivir aventuras o que no eran especiales, por lo que estaba ansiosa por leer un libro que retratara a personas como yo.

Hello, today I’m reviewing a middle grade book (I love middle grade books) that I read recently, A Dash of Trouble, the first in the Love, Sugar, Magic series.

This book revolves around Leonora Logroño’s family, who  owns the most beloved bakery in Rose Hill, Texas, spending their days conjuring delicious cookies and cakes for any occasion. And no occasion is more important than the annual Dia de los Muertos festival.

Leo hopes that this might be the year that she gets to help prepare for the big celebration—but, once again, she is told she’s too young. Sneaking out of school and down to the bakery, she discovers that her mother, aunt, and four older sisters have in fact been keeping a big secret: they’re brujas—witches of Mexican ancestry—who pour a little bit of sweet magic into everything that they bake. 

Leo knows that she has magical ability as well and is more determined than ever to join the family business—even if she can’t let her mom and sisters know about it yet.

And when her best friend, Caroline, has a problem that needs solving, Leo has the perfect opportunity to try out her craft.

I won this book in a giveaway, I had three options and I chose this one because the main

character is a Latina girl. When I was growing up, all the characters I read in books were white, so I had this weird idea in my mind that people like me couldn’t go on adventure or be the protagonists of their stories, always side or minor characters, so I was eager to read a book that portrayed people like me.

Hola, hoy estoy reseñando una novela gráfica que ha sido bastante popular desde su lanzamiento. El día supe sobre esta novela, solo con la portada y el título me convencí que tenía que comprarlo. Un día en un evento de  Mysterious Galaxy lo vi y ¡Estaba firmado! Así que Lo  compré de inmediato. Lo leí en dos tardes y me encantó.

Hello, today I’m reviewing a graphic novel that’s been kind of popular since its release. The day I knew about it, just by the cover and title, I had to have it and one day during a book signing at Mysterious Galaxy I spotted it and it was signed! So I had to get it. I read it in two sits and totally loved it.
